Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | An underwater villa will be opening in the Maldives this year. It sounds like a dream. Guests of the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island will soon be able to sleep with the fish in a stunning new residence immersed 16.4 feet under the Indian Ocean.
The new underwater villa will be called the Muraka, which means coral in Dhivehi, the language in the Maldives. The Muraka is currently being erected at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island by New Zealand-based design consultancy M.J. Murphy Ltd and is due to be completed in November 2018.
It will cost £3,500 (Approx. Shs18 million) for a one-night stay. Up to nine guests can stay in the villa at any time. It has two decks, with the lower deck sitting five meters beneath the sea.
There’s also a bedroom, living room, bathroom and glass ceilings so that guests can gaze into the ocean wherever they are.
