THIS WEEK: CCEDU’s Kaheru to head regional election observers’ body
Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Crispin Kaheru, the National Coordinator for Citizens’ Coalition for Electoral Democracy in Uganda (CCEDU) has been elected to chair the board of East and Horn of Africa Election Observers Network (E-HORN), a regional network of East and Horn of Africa election observation and monitoring citizen organizations and institutions whose headquarters are located in Nairobi Kenya.
Kaheru was announced as new boss on Nov.28 when the network held its 3rd Council meeting in Nairobi, Kenya to deliberate on the strategies and action plan for the 2019-2022 period. Being leader of the organization, Kaheru will be heading the team that will be observing the 2021 election in Uganda. However, his local organization – CCEDU has had its observation license suspended by the Electoral Commission on grounds that the institution is partisan something they have objected in court.
