Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Mengo hospital agreed on Nov.23 to take Responsibility and agreed to pay Shs35million to a bereaved couple that lost their baby boy when an intern doctor gave him an injection that took his life.
According to the consent judgment, the hospital agreed that they failed to implement Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Guidelines to supervise medical interns in their Hospital as per the attached Consent Judgment we arrived at.
The couple went to court in 2015 and filed a case claiming violations including right to quality healthcare, health information and life after a student nurse approached Nantubwe Rita the mother of the baby with a rather large injection with a drug that she assumed was her own only for it to be used on the baby.
He later developed strange signs like body color change and later died.
