THIS WEEK: MPs call for disciplining Minister Namuganza

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Bukono MP and Lands State Minister Persis Namuganza who first came under the spot light when she publicly quarreled with ICT state Minister Aidah Nantaba was on Mar. 09 kicked out of the Busoga Parliamentary caucus for insulting and alleging that speaker Rebecca Kadaga wanted to murder her.

The 13 MPs who called for criminal proceedings against the Minister said her conduct was unbecoming and that she was now banned from conducting any activities in the Busoga region apart from her constituency.

She had recently called on her supporters to lynch the Kyabazinga and the speaker at a social function held in her Bukono constituency.

Apart from that, the Minister is also said to have taken to social media to attack the people of Kamuli – Kadaga constituents that they are unhygienic.

On Mar.12, the NRM National Vice Chairperson for Eastern Uganda Mike Mukula wrote to the president to intervene in the matter which he says hails from a conflict surrounding the Kyabazingaship.

  1. Sir,

I am a resident of Budomero, Bukono, Namutumba District. I am also a clan leader of the Baikomba clan, a farmer and landlord.

I have noted with concern statements in the press which amount to unfounded political manoeuvres based on envy, lies and distortions to undermine and smear the good name of our MP, the Hon. Persis Namuganza.

We the Bakono elected Hon. Namuganza. She is answerable to us. As far as we are concerned she is doing a great job for Bukono in Parliament and Uganda.

On behalf of the Baikomba clan, and the Badomero of Bukono, I wish to use this opportunity to inform the Basoga Parliamentary caucus that they have no right to demand that Hon. Namuganza should be disciplined.

As a Mukono and Musoga, I would like to call upon the Busoga Parliamentary caucus to bickering and finding lame excuses.

Busoga is in a state of decay. Basoga MPs must rise, fight tooth and nail for Busoga to get an investment programme that will halt the decline of our society. It is not sufficient that they go to Parliament. The Basoga want tangible results!

    Yours faithfully,

    Henry Venekenti Mugoli Baisi
    Budomero Village BUKONO
