The Democratic Party’s Secretary General Mathias Nsubuga Birekeraawo died Sunday evening, after a reported stroke.
DP President Norbert Mao confirmed the death of the veteran Ugandan politician. ” With deep sorrow I announce the death of Hon. Mathias Nsubuga, Secretary General of the Democratic Party. We have lost a most clean hearted man. RIP,” Mao posted online.

The DP leader had been rushed to Case Hospital in Kampala, after a reported stroke at nearby Mukono Bookshop.
In a statement on Friday, the party said “The Democratic Party would like to make a confirmation that the Secretary General Hon. Mathias Nsubuga Birekeraawo suffered a massive stroke at Mukono Bookshop. All this happened in the presence of the Organising Secretary Sulaiman Kidandala who was with him.”
