City Lodge Hotel Group ponders setting up 150-room hotel in Kampala amid usurious land prices and construction costs
South Africa-based City Lodge Hotel Group is struggling to come to terms with construction costs in Uganda where it plans to construct a 150 room hotel in Kampala.
City Lodge Hotel Group chief executive Clifford Ross told the South African Business Report daily that the group was still hopeful about opening a hotel in Uganda by the end of next year despite encountering difficulties with the cost for its planned 150 room City Lodge Hotel Kampala.
Henri Joubert, the Group’s international business development manager, confirmed to The Independent in an e-mail that the project is in the pipeline. “The Hotel will be built in Kampala. We are still busy with total cost because the project is not feasible at this stage and cost reductions need to be made. If we don’t make it in Kampala we will have no option but to leave.
