Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Newly appointed Inspector General of Police (IGP) Okoth Ochola has transferred and appointed 23 gazetted officers. He has also reorganized the operations of several sectors of the Uganda police.
Seven officers have been removed from the IGP’s office, while one Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) has been transferred while another confirmed. AIGPs head the 20 directorates while others are on duty abroad.
Ochola also made changes in the operations of the force. The changes will see the functions of the Directorate of oil and gas merged with those of the directorate of counter terrorism thereby forming a division of oil and gas.
Supervision of territorial police command reverts to the directorate of operations, while that of Specialised Units ( ASTU, canine, police air wing, railway police, environmental protection police, marine, agriculture, mineral protection, presidential protection) reverts to the Directorate of Operations.
Supervision of Special Investigations Unit (SIU) and criminal case file tracking task force reverts to the Directorate of CID while that of the Flying squad reverts to directorate of CID. Supervision of Surveillance and Special operations reverts to the Directorate of Crime Intelligence
while that of cyber crime unit reverts to the Directorate of Forensic services.

9. CP Mugisha Bazil from L&E to T&RS so Deputy Director

11. CP Jacob Opolot Omoding appointed operations officer FFU
12. CP Lawrence Niwabine from IGP’s office to welfare and production as CP Welare.
13. ACP Dennis Namuwoza from KMP South to KMP HQS as Deputy Commnnder
14. ACP Esther Akwango from IGP’s office to women affairs as AG. Cp Women Affairs

19. SSP Fred Mirondo from ASTU to IGP’s office as personal assistant legal.
