The core objective is to establish Africa’s largest car-sharing marketplace for car rentals, underpinned by an unwavering commitment to safety, including extensive insurance coverage for all users.

Travel and tourism play pivotal roles in the economies of countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, and Kenya. Car rental services are indispensable for empowering tourists and travellers to explore diverse regions with confidence.
Kenya, known for its wildlife and national parks, attracted over 2 million international tourists in 2022. Ghana’s tourism sector contributed approximately 6.8% to its GDP in 2021, and Uganda continues to witness a significant rise in tourism arrivals. Nigeria, as Africa’s most populous country, holds immense potential for the burgeoning tourism sector, including car rental services.
Insurance is a critical factor in the car rental industry, influencing traveler’’ decisions significantly. According to a study by the Insurance Information Institute, 62% of respondents consider insurance coverage when choosing a car rental service.
Treepz and Octamile have been working on this project for several months, with Octamile playing a pivotal role in making Treepz Care a reality. According to a company brief, Treepz stands as the only car-sharing marketplace to deploy embedded insurance for car rentals at this scale on the continent.

To streamline the insurance adoption process for guests, Treepz has seamlessly integrated guest protection coverage into the booking process, eliminating additional steps for guests to enjoy its benefits.
Hosts can easily opt-in for various policy covers, including host protection, third-party vehicle insurance, and comprehensive vehicle insurance during their onboarding process, through their host account in the app, or by contacting businesses for personalized onboarding.
Treepz Care encompasses various insurance services tailored for both guests and hosts, including guest protection and coverage for accidents (including death, bodily injuries, and disabilities). Its benefits include death benefits, permanent disability coverage, and medical expenses.
On the other hand, hosts also get protected with “Driver accident insurance” (coverage for accidents, including death, bodily injuries, and disabilities). Other host benefits comprise death benefits, permanent disability coverage, and medical expenses.
The programme also features comprehensive insurance that includes coverage for own vehicle damage, third-party liability, and theft, while benefits include repair or replacement in case of an accident and compensation for theft.
Additionally, Treepz Care offers 3rd Party Insurance for Vehicle owners, covering third-party accidents, including death, bodily injuries, and disabilities. The benefits encompass funeral expenses, medical expenses, and compensation for the loss of personal belongings.
