Two arrested over alleged kidnap, murder of Wakiso land dealer

Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Security personnel have arrested two more suspects in the alleged kidnap and murder of Wakiso land dealer Samuel Musiitwa.

Musiitwa who had been missing from April 20, was six days later found dead in the car belonging to his wife Florence Aanyu Adong. Musiitwa left his home in Kasengejje Wakiso after having a quarrel with his wife who he accused of having an affair with a Mulago hospital doctor Kaye Mukasa.

Before his death, Musiitwa sent WhatsApp audios to his young brother Robert Kagolo, that he had been kidnapped near Mulago by unknown people who were threatening to kill him.

Unfortunately, Kagolo was also shot dead a day after Musiitwa had been buried.

Kagolo was a journalist working with Star FM and former president of the Uganda Journalists Association. Kagolo was killed by one of the Local Defence Units –LDUs he had picked from Wakiso police to guard his killed brother’s home as they headed to Gomba district for burial.

Although Kagolo’s alleged shooter, Rashid Mamuli was arrested, security continued with the hunt of alleged kidnappers and killers of Musiitwa. Police first arrested Musiitwa’s wife, Florence Aanyu Adong but have now arrested Mukasa and another woman.

URN has reliably been informed that another person who is a female has been arrested over Musiitwa’s murder. It is not yet clear what connects the latest suspect to the crime.

A source has revealed to URN that Musiitwa was sighted at a hotel in Kyanja on the eve of his death with a woman.

“I want to tell you that Musiitwa was at a hotel in Kyanja on April 25th, and he was found dead the following day. I have reviewed the CCTV footage at the hotel and it clearly shows Musiitwa with a woman. I don’t know why police have not visited the hotel and arrested this woman,” the source said.

Charles Twine, the Criminal Investigations Directorate-CID spokesperson said they are handling investigations very well and they are optimistic that whoever was involved in Musiitwa’s murder will be arrested.

The new development of Musiitwa being sighted at a hotel in Kyanja raises questions on whether his death was orchestrated by the woman or he ended his own life. The post-mortem report according to one of the police pathologists indicates that Musiitwa died of suffocation.

“We have shared the copy of the post-mortem with the family and it shows he died of suffocation. There was foam coming from his mouth at the time his relatives led by Kagolo found him in a car with all windows closed,” the source said.

Musiitwa’s woes with wife Adong escalated on April 14, when he allegedly found her in a car with Mukasa in an allegedly compromising position. Musiitwa had severally accused Adong of having an affair with Mukasa.

When he found the two in a car, Musiitwa assaulted the duo. Mukasa and Adong reported a case of assault at Kasengejje but Musiitwa did not respond to police summons. Locals and relatives led by one of the deceased’s brothers one William said Musiitwa chased Adong from the home.

However, Adong was brought back by their 27 year old son Elvis Kamya. The couple’s quarrel resumed on April 20th when Musiitwa drove out of the home in his wife’s car until he was found dead in the same vehicle.
