Two arrested over brutal murder of a woman in Kagadi

Kagadi, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The police are holding two suspects in connection with the brutal killing of a woman in Kagadi district.

The suspects whose particulars have been concealed for fear of jeopardizing police investigations were arrested over the weekend from various parts of Kagadi. The two suspects, one man and a woman are suspected to have connived and hacked to death, one Alice Bingi alias Nassy, a resident of Kiryanjagi trading centre in Kabamba sub county.

The incident happened on April 21, 2021, at around 10 pm. On that night, machete-wielding thugs invaded the residence of Omuhereza Naku where they hacked his wife Alice to death. They also hacked two children in the same family leaving them in critical condition.

The children were rushed to St Ambrose medical centre in Kagadi town where they are currently nursing machete wounds. Since then, police have been hunting for the assailants until two of them were nabbed over the weekend on Saturday.

Kenneth Tukamushaba, the officer in charge of Kagadi central police station told Uganda Radio Network in an interview on Monday that they managed to arrest the two suspects believed to have participated in the brutal murder of Nassy.

He says the suspects are currently being detained at Kagadi central police station adding that once police investigations are done, the suspects will be arraigned before the court to be charged with murder. According to Tukamushaba, the hunt for more suspects believed to have participated in the murder is ongoing.
