Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Two security guards have been killed by unknown gunmen in Kampala.
The guards have been identified as Godfrey Wapukurwa, 50 years and Kennedy Andama, 48 years attached to Security Group Africa-SGA. They were guarding a disputed land in Wankoko zone on Spring road in Bugolobi, Nakawa division.
Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson said that investigations into the killings are ongoing.
According to Owoyesigyire, the bodies were discovered on a disputed land which is claimed by Mandela Group and a city businessman only identified as Kamwanyi. He says detectives are yet to ascertain if the deceased were deployed to guard the land.
One rifle SAR UG Pol.13282584-102416, with seven rounds of ammunition and two cartridges were found at the scene.
Martin Olimo, one of the security guards working with the New Uganda Security Company says that they heard gunshots at around 11:00 pm on Tuesday. He says that when they reached the scene, they found the two guards dead.
Dickson Ochen from SGA security company says that Mandela Group contracted their company to guard the disputed land.
