U.S. secret service director resigns following attempted assassination of Trump

WASHINGTON | Xinhua |  U.S. Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle resigned on Tuesday after widespread outrage over the agency’s failure to prevent the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

She earlier acknowledged it was “the most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades. ■
