Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Beers brewer, Uganda Breweries Limited, has announced a water and education support programme geared towards transforming livelihoods of the communities of Acholi sub region in Northern Uganda.
The company’s Managing Director, Mark Ocitti, said the new initiative has already commenced with the construction of 16 more boreholes for the sorghum farming communities in northern Uganda. This is in addition to the 15 boreholes commissioned four years ago.
Meanwhile, the company has also unveiled ascholarshipprogramme to support 20 less privileged students from the farming communities in the same region under its skills for life initiative.
The company plans to pay up to Shs348million for students to acquire knowledge and skills from Daniel Comboni Vocational Institute and Kitgum Technical Institute.
