The Uganda Communications Commission Executive Director, Godfrey Mutabazi has today (June 11) told broadcasters that do not have authorisation to broadcast the World Cup, not to infringe on the rights of those that have acquired these rights.
Mutabazi said in a notice dated June 11.
The Commission’s mandate includes monitoring, inspecting, licensing and regulating the provision of communication services in Uganda, as well as enforcement and compliance assurance, among others.
“The Commission hereby informs all broadcasters (Television and Radio) that whoever holds rights to broadcast the World Cup should submit evidence to the Commission not later than 1:00pm on June 12, 2014 without fail,” the notice reads in part.
Uganda’s football lovers will join the rest of the World to watch the first 2014 FIFA World Cup game opener [Brazil vs Croatia] in Brazil come June 12.
