Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | The Uganda Certificate of Education-UCE examination results are scheduled to be released on Thursday this week. A statement from the Education and Sports Ministry indicates that the results will be released at the offices of Uganda Bureau of Statistics at 2:30 pm.
Education and Sports Minister, Janet Kataha Museveni will release the exams. Patrick Muinda, the Assistant Commissioner in charge of Communication in the Education Ministry says contrary to the norm, the results will be released in the afternoon this time around. “There is no specific reason for the change in time or venue,” he said.
For several years, UCE results have been released in the morning. A total of 336,740 candidates registered to sit for national examinations in 3,658 centers.
In the 2017 UCE, Eastern Uganda had the worst performing districts. According to UNEB, the districts scored more than double the national mean failure rate, which stood at 8.8 percent.
The worst performing districts included Bukwo with 28.6%, Butaleja-28.3%, Kween-22.3%, Kapchorwa-22.2%, Buliisa-21.9%, Bulambuli-21.5%, Pallisa-20.2%, Sironko-19.6%, Busia-18.8% and Bududa-18.0%.
