CAF U20 First Round Qualification
Return Leg
Uganda 2-1 Rwanda (Agg 3-2)
Uganda’s U20 side, the Hippos, will face Egypt in the final qualification round of the 2017 Caf youth championships after eliminating Rwanda 3-2 on aggregate at Mandela National Stadium, Namboole on Saturday.
The Hippos, who drew 1-1 with Rwanda’s Junior Wasps in the first leg, won the return leg 2-1 to set up the date against Egypt.
The first leg between Uganda and Egypt in the final qualification round will be played on May 20, with the return due June 10. Uganda host the first leg.
Like they did in Kigali a fortnight ago, Rwanda took the lead here, striker Abeddy Biramahire heading them ahead on 17 minutes after a quality delivery Ange Mutsinzi.
But the Hippos levelled matters three minutes later through Zaake Luboyera before the forward slotted home a penalty to complete his brace two minutes after recess.
The winners between Uganda and Egypt over the two legs will qualify for the 2017 Caf U20 finals that will be hosted in Zambia.
