South Africa took the lead in the first half of the Group K match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers, as Uganda struggled to adapt to a new playing philosophy under Belgian coach Joseph Paul Put. Uganda then struck early of the 2nd half, but failed to hold onto the lead well into extra time.
Earlier, Kenya and Zimbabwe played out a goalless draw in their opening match of the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Uganda on Friday.
The Harambee Stars began their quest to qualify for the competition in Morocco with the stalemate in a tightly contested encounter Group J game in Kampala.
