Uganda Land Commission boss Baguma Isoke admits fault

Baguma Isoke

Kampala, Uganda | GODFREY SSALI | The Chairman Uganda Land Commission Baguma Isoke has admitted that his body gave away Government land that it holds in public trust irresponsibly.

Baguma told the Land Probe Commission chaired by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire that most of the land belonging to schools, ministries and institutions was given away to companies and individuals without following due processes by his predecessors between 2010 and 2012.

He further revealed that most of the documents including applications for the lands in question have mysteriously gone missing from the relevant files, making it hard to fully trace these transactions.

Baguma who became chairman on January 05, 2014 says the Commission faces many challenges including lack of clear policies and guidelines to fully execute their mandate.
