Uganda selected to host ICC Challenge League B

KAMPALA, Uganda | Xinhua | Uganda has been selected to host the International Cricket Council (ICC) Challenge League B from November 4 to 16 in Kampala and Entebbe.

The Challenge League B is a qualification pathway for the 2027 ICC World Cup, which will be hosted by Zimbabwe, South Africa and Namibia.

Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) communications chief Denis Musali told Xinhua on Sunday that the team is glad to be selected again to host another international tournament.

“We are excited that we will host this tournament and this gives us home advantage, but also keeps helping us keep improving on how to host big events,” added Musali.

The ICC Challenge League B will include Uganda, Tanzania, Italy, Bahrain, Singapore and China’s Hong Kong.

According to Musali, teams will play 15 games across three rounds between 2024 and 2026.

Musali said that four upcoming internationals against Papua New Guinea will help Uganda prepare for the ICC Challenge League B.

Papua New Guinea are to visit Uganda from September 16 to 22 for a four-match, 50-over series. ■
