Ugandan contractors advised

Uganda`s minister for works and transport Engineer James Byandala has advised Ugandan contractors to emulate the working standards of international companies engaged in the construction of the Ugandan infrastructure. Byandala said this while on his recent visit of the Hoima-Kaiso-Tonya road being constructed by Turkish construction company Kolin Insaat Turizm Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S.


The minister while going for the road inspection went with a team of parliamentarians to see the progress so far reached on what has come to be known as the refinery road. Byandala thanked Kolin Insaat Turizm Sanayi Ve Ticaret A.S for the job well done and promised the company more jobs because of the exemplary work done.

Bruhan Nassur the Kolin construction country director hailed the good working relationship with the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) and expressed optimism that this working relationship will grow by lips and bounds.

The Shs315-billion road is supposed to be completed by end of this year before construction of the refinery begins. Byandala also toured work being done by a Ugandan contractor (Jaribu contractors) which is leveling the sides of the road and planting grass to prevent it from erosion.

On his part Dan Alinange the UNRA communications Director hailed Kolin construction for the timely and excellent work done yet this is their first time doing work in Uganda.
