El Gouna, Egypt | LOUIS JADWONG & AGENCIES | Former Uganda Golf Union President Johnson Omollo has been elected Africa Golf Confederation president at a meeting in Egypt.
Omollo, who has been the golf body’s Vice President since 2013 under Zambia’s Joe Malanje and later on Mauritius’ Christophe Currie, was elected during the AGC Council meeting held at El Gouna Golf Club in Hurghada, Egypt on Thursday. Omollo edged Currie in the vote.
Outgoing Africa Golf Confederation President Christophe Cure and newly elected Omollo gave out the prizes at the just concluded Africa Team Golf Championships.
The tournament gold went to Morocco, silver to South Africa and Kenya took bronze. Uganda best individual was Jakisa.
The Ugandan team comprised US-based players. Also in Egypt was national team head coach and female golf professional Flavia Namakula and the current president of Uganda Golf Union (UGU) Moses Matisko.
