Unknown assailants hack Bukwo parish chief to death

Bukwo, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Unknown assailants have killed a parish chief in Bukwo district. The deceased is Benjamin Chelangat, 45, a resident of Lamintina village, Muimet parish in Bukwo district.

He has been the chief of Kabai Parish. According to available information, the assailants hacked Chelangat at his residence at around 8pm on Monday night.

He succumbed to injuries inflicted on him by the attackers on the head, neck and back.

According to police, the deceased fell in an ambush while responding to an alarm by his children who had sighted the attackers.

Fredmark Chesang, the Sipi region police spokesperson says that investigations are ongoing to find the assailants and establish their motive.

He appeals to whoever has information leading to the assailants to share it with the police.

Chesang says that police have entered a case of murder vid SD 39/18/10/2021 at Bukwo Central Police Station.

The deceased’s body is lying at Bukwo general hospital pending post-mortem.
