Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) has called for an independent committee to probe the disagreement between Prof Stella Nyanzi’s and Executive Director Makerere Social Institute of Research Prof. Mahmood Mamdani.
“It is forbidden in the African culture for a woman to go nude however if the reaction reaches that extent, it means the woman was doing all she can to fight for her rights,” Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) spokesperson, Micheal Osinde told the press Wednesday.
He said the independent committee should comprise the Women Parliamentary forum, National Council for Higher Education and Uganda Human rights.
UPC also explained their stand on a number of other issues.
They recommended that Kampala City Council Authority administers stringent mechanism against building constructors within the city to safe guard the property and loss of lives. “Constructors shouldn’t aim at money making only but perform their duties professionally,” Osinde said, referring to the recent collapse of the Kyaseka building near Makerere University
On cancer and the 400 patients to be flown to Nairobi, the UPC urged for fairness, and warned that tribalism, nepotism and age should be shunned.
