Kigali, Rwanda | THE INDEPENDENT | Liliane Iradukunda has been named Miss Rwanda after the final round of the beauty contest at the Kigali Convention Center on Saturday night.
The 18-year-old Iradukunda clinched the crown after beating 19 others in the grande finale. She represented Western Province.
Judges decide the winner based on a girls’ ability to become a role model and a compelling figure that actively contribute to the country’s social and cultural progress.

The concept of “Miss “does not represent our African Values.As Africans parading naked in public is distasteful and above all UN-African.It represents the cherishing of western or white mans beauty other than celebrating our notions of African feminism and beauty.This is something that we need to re-think.
But this young lady is not parading a naked body in any of the pictures posted! Did I miss something! I would have loved to see her in a swim suit, (not naked).
