Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Vipers Sports Club has today unveiled Brazilian Roberto Oliviera Gonçalves do Carmo as the new head coach.
The new coach is expected to be in-charge when the club kick starts the StarTimes Uganda Premier League campaign on October 15th, 2021.
The newly appointed tactician was unveiled by Vipers SC President, Dr. Lawrence Mulindwa at the club’s home ground, St. Mary’s Stadium Kitende.
The 60-year old featured for Brazil’s clubs Fluminense, Flamengo and Palmeiras among others when he was still an active football player, he also coached Fluminense, Kenya’s Gor Mahia among other clubs.
The Brazilian coach takes over from interim Paul Kiwanuka who has been in charge of the club since they parted ways with Fred Kajoba in May this year.
While unveiling the new coach, Vipers President Mulindwa said that they have appointed a coach who fits in the team’s philosophy. He believes Oliviera ticked all the boxes to help Vipers archive their ambitions.
The administrator added on that, Vipers is interested in dominating football on the continent and they have to start the domination from the local league.
The new coach said he is happy to have joined Vipers and added that coaching offensive football will be his first priority at the Kitende based team.
Oliviera joins a list of foreign tacticians to have coached the Venoms including Javier Martinez and Miguel Da Costa.
