Kampala, Uganda  | THE INDEPENDENT |  Vivo Energy Uganda, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Uganda, has unveiled its ‘Simbula ne Rimula R3X’ campaign. This initiative is targeted at heavy-duty diesel-powered engine vehicles, including taxis, lorries, trucks, and buses with older engines.

The campaign introduces Shell Rimula R3X 20W-50 API CH-4, a lubricant specifically designed to address the evolving needs of these vehicles by offering triple action-enhanced protection against heat, engine wear, and deposit formation, ultimately extending engine life.

The launch of Shell Rimula R3X is in line with the new Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) recommendations for lubricant APIs. The product has been carefully developed to meet the required UNBS specifications, ensuring optimal performance and protection for heavy-duty vehicles.

The ‘Simbula ne Rimula R3X’ campaign aims to encourage trials of this new lubricant while rewarding over 7,000 commercial drivers with prizes worth over 200 million Uganda shillings. To participate, drivers must buy a 5-litre pack of Shell Rimula R3X 20W-50, get a unique code under the seal cap, and send their site code, number plate, and unique code to 6688. As part of the promotion, participants stand a chance to win two brand-new canter trucks, along with a variety of prizes such as fuel, airtime, overalls t-shirts, caps, detergent, and more. Weekly draws will also offer full tanks of fuel as additional rewards.

The promotion will run for two months, giving participants ample time to experience the superior triple protection and performance offered by Shell Rimula R3X.

Rebecca Nassiwa, Lubricants Brand Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda, emphasised the company’s dedication to quality and innovation, stating: “Our commitment to delivering the best products is evident in our latest offering. With Shell Rimula R3X, we are confident that our customers will benefit from triple action protection, ensuring their engines last longer and perform efficiently to help them stay on the road and earn more.”

She further added: “The ‘Simbula ne Rimula R3X’ campaign is our way of rewarding customers who choose this product. Over the next eight weeks, participants will have the chance to win two brand-new canter trucks, weekly full tanks of fuel, and other exciting instant rewards.”

Joanita Menya, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, explains the benefits of Shell R3 X to a taxi driver during the launch of the ‘Simbula ne Rimula R3 X’ campaign at Bwaise Taxi Park.

Francis Kayoki, Lubricants Manager at Vivo Energy Uganda, highlighted the importance of adapting to the new standards. “With the updated UNBS recommendations, it’s crucial to assist our customers in transitioning to a lubricant that not only meets these standards but also enhances vehicle performance. Shell Rimula R3X is the perfect solution, offering superior protection and fuel efficiency, ensuring engines remain strong for longer. Its 20W-50 grade is ideal for older engines, such as those in taxis, Elf, and Sino trucks, and comes at an affordable price.”

Joanita Menya, Managing Director of Vivo Energy Uganda, spoke about the broader impact of the product, stating: “Rimula R3X is more than just a lubricant, it is a critical partner in ensuring that businesses run smoothly for our key customers: commercial drivers of taxis, trucks, and buses.
