THIS WEEK: Makerere to start climate change studies
Makerere University is planning to introduce climate change studies in its various courses as the country and region battle a devastating drought. Outgoing Vice Chancellor Professor Dumba Sentamu made the remarks at the opening of a two day 11th international conference on Community Based Adaptation conference in Kampala recently.
Dumba said the programs would be bolstered under the College of Agricultural and Environmental Science and integrated in other courses like Land Economics. He added that the higher institutions should take the lead in imparting knowledge on climate change.
Prof Bernard Bashaasha, the Principal of the college said the new programs will be covered at both undergraduate and graduate level. The conference was organized by the International Centre for Climate Change and Development.
