Kampala, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Juliet Kizza, the widow of Bosco Owecho has cried out to the survivors of the MV Templar boat accident to come to her rescue. Owecho drowned while rescuing revelers aboard MV Templar that capsized on Saturday night last week while heading to K-Palm beach in Mukono from Gabba landing site in Wakiso district.
According to several media reports, Owecho rescued several people and drowned when he lost his breath when he returned to the Lake to rescue unidentified woman, who also didn’t make it. He left behind a widow, 22-year-old Juliet Kizza and two children aged 8 and 2, all residents of Buzindere village in Mpatta Sub County in Mukono district.
Kizza told URN that the death of Owecho is a big blow to the family, since has been the sole bread winner. She now wants the people rescued by her late husband to support her young family.
Her first born is in primary one at one of the schools in Buzindere village. Asuman Mugyeni, the Director of Police Uganda Police Force, has also backed Kizza’s call for support from the survivors.
Robert Musaazi, the Director Afro Arabia Tours and Travel in Kampala, has pledged to educate Owecho’s children up and take care of their basic needs.
Our reporter was unable to reach out to some of the key survivors of the boat tragedy to establish whether or not they have plans to support Owecho’s family.
