Dr Sam Lyomoki an MP representing workers was arrested this morning after featuring on a WBS Television Talk show and quickly whisked to police’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in Kireka, a Kampala suburb for snubbing Police summons.
Dr Lyomoki has been vocal on how his own political party the ruling NRM has been marresting MPs who questioned the manner in which the former MP for Butaleja district, Cerinah Nebanda died.
The deputy director of the Criminal Investigations and Intelligence Directorate, Geoffrey Musana, had on January 7, invited the MP to appear at Kireka for the second time.
Dr Lyomoki was to explain why he alleged that government had a hand in the death of Butaleja Nebanda.
Lyomoki on Monday told press at Parliament that he had received a telephone call from Speaker Rebecca Kadaga’s office about the fresh summons but said he would not voluntarily appear at SIU for questioning, insisting he had no case to answer.
He now joins his fellow MPs Chris Baryomunsi and Mohammed Nsereko who were arrested over statements that disputed the Police investigation report on Nebanda’s widely publicized death.
Dr Lyomoki has been heard say that, “Come 2016 they will front another candidate to vie for presidency in case President Museveni refuses to step aside.”
He says, “I have been mandated to steer this project and we shall front one as an independent presidential candidate because President Museveni has lost the grace of God to lead this country.”
